A long awaited local in house derby match between A and B teams, all players were charged up for this game.  East One FC B took of to a flying start from kick off with a flurry of passes in midfield.  A traditional 4-4-2 formation indicated early on that the B team were looking to go and get that early goal.  It was not long before the passes ended up from the middle of the pitch to left winger Nessar who saw Kalam making a run on the right wing, Nessar played a ball across the field which Kalam controlled well and took into the 18 yard box before taking on the A team left back and taking a fantastic shot which ended up in the top right hand corner of the goal.  10 minutes into the game and the B team looked more up for it with confidence growing.

A team did start to come back with a sense of urgency and started putting B team under pressure, in particular on the right side of the field. Continuous crosses and through balls came into the 18 yard box that Bolia, Abzal and Saidur comfortably cleared.  It did not take long before the A team had an opportunity from about 25 yards, the ball was controlled well and a shot on target ensured the A team were level within 5 minutes

A team continued to press with B team doing well to contain this pressure, counter movements by the B team ensured that Abdul, Maruf and Nessar  got shots on target but were well saved by the A team keeper.  B team had spells in the first half whereby they pressured A team, Rubel took a 28 yard free kick which was on target but comfortably saved by the keeper.  Further attempts by Kalam, Maruf, Abdul and Nessar were not fruitful. The game was pretty even at the end of the first half with B team doing well to keep it to a draw.

Substitutions were made during half time in which Habibur (Salekh), Mahon (Abzal) and Mizan (Abdul) came on.  The game took off with B team not concentrating and making silly errors.  With the A team making their substitutions, they began utilising errors being made by defence and the goalkeeper.  It was not long before the A team capitalised from an error in defence which allowed the opponent striker to go pass and take a shot on target beating the keeper.  The errors continued mainly in defence and with the keeper, clearances were not made properly but passed to opponents, positive communication was non existent and the blame culture started settling in.  It was not long before the B team was eventually out performed with the midfield keen to push up but not push back, the defence could not cope with the pace and strength of the A team strikers who stretched the game allowing the B team to leave too many gaps for A team to get through. With no authority in defence, the B team looked un-organised and inexperienced, this allowed the A team to go on and score a further 3 easy goals.  Although several attempts to get that second goal were made, the ball would not go in with attempts by Kalam, Rahul, Maruf, Mizan. The B team looked as though they did not want to play, the hunger went out and mentally the A team had the upper hand, a disastrous second half performance in which key players had performed well below the usual standard.

An under-performing B team which was out-performed by an experienced A team.

East One FC B 0 : Shoreditch 1

Match report – 29/06/08

Team: Jahangir (6), Bolia (7), Mohan (8), Salekh (6), Moinul (6), Nessar (6), Rubel (6), Tousif (6) Habibur (6), Kalam (6), Maruf (6)

Subs: Abdul (6)

Managers Man of the match: Mohan

Team Performance: 6/10

East One B started this game with a number of players playing in unfamiliar positions, due to the poor turnout from East One B.

Bolai and Mohan were the 2 central defenders, who have never played together in that position. Moinul at LB and Salekh at RB. With Nessar returning back from injury on the LW and Rubel, Kalam Tousif and Habibur making up the 5 man midfield and the lone striker with Maruf.

East One started off well absorbing all the pressure from Shoreditch, with some nice link up play from Habibur and Kalam.

Habibur worked tirelessly down the wing trying to make some form of attack and using his strength and speed to go beyond players. At one time he was up against a player twice his size but managed to get the better of him with the player landing on his back after trying to take Habibur down.

Mohan and Bolai worked well together with Salek and Moinul.  Mohan took the lead in the central defence clearing the ball calmly and confidently and communicating with his defenders.

With a packed midfield, the Shoreditch players were finding it difficult to break us down. However when they did, the new defence managed to clear the ball. Jahangir had to be called upon to make some good saves, which kept the score line 0 – 0 in the first half.

The second half started as it began in the first half with East One defending attack from Shoreditch. From a Shoreditch throwing came the goal that East One tried hard in not conceding. An error from our central defenders and Jahangir led to Shoreditch’s one and only goal.

East One had a glorious chance in getting an equaliser 10 minutes before the end when the ball was passed onto Abdul who came on as sub for the injured Nessar. Abdul beat the off side trap and was one on one with the goal keeper. Not realising he had more time on the ball, Abdul took a shot trying to beat the keeper on the left side but shot wide.

That was the only clear chance East One had and the game finished 1- 0 to Shoreditch.

Overall performance of the team was not bad considering players had to play in different positions,  East One were unlucky not to get a draw, for there hard work.

Abohani B 0:1 East One FC (B)

Team: Jahangir, Bolia (Salekh), Abzal, Saidur, Moinul (Abdul), Rahul, Habibur, Rubel, Tousif, Kalam, Sanaur (Mizanoor)

Managers Man of the match: Habibur

Team Performance: 7/10

East One B came to this game with a lot more confidence and eagerness to get a result. The first half was dominated by East One B as midfielders Tousif, Rubel and Kalam ensured that neat passing, keeping possession and attacking the Abohani defence was made evident.  East One B played their trademark 4-5-1 system with Tousif playing the holding midfielder, Rahul was played on the right wing with Habibur moved up from right back to right wing. The magnificent 5 did themselves proud as they contained Abohani B, stopped them from playing their game and most importantly fustrated them

Sanaur was East One B lone striker who had a very good game, constantly hounding their defence line and applying pressure.  East One B made several attempts on goal with Sanuar having  acouple of runs towards goal but not having the opportunity to take a shot, midfielders Rube and Kalam were also buzzing around the 18 yard box and managed to have a few half decent chances to no avail.   East One B felt confident the goal was coming but  not in the first half as the whistle blew.

A good team talk by Habib and Abzal brought about a tactical change in the system, East One B decided to change to a traditional 4-4-2 formation and made some subs in Moinul (had his first game coming back from injury) who had a excellent game at right back, bringing on striker Abdul, and a straight swap in Sanaur for Mizanoor. Habibur was taken back to right back and Kalam was given a new role on the right wing.

Mizanoor and Abdul made a good team effort, bringing more attack and fire power.  As the seond half got on the way, East One B were attacking was more determination to get that goal that wa long overdue, East One B pressed and pressed, getting balls up to the strikers who worked non stop to get that shot on goal.  Through balls and passes from both right and left wings were coming thick and fast. Mizanoor broke through the Abahoni B defence as Rubel fed the ball over the defence line, Mizanoor was one on one with the keeper and lord behold would you have guessed it… he shot the ball over the keeper by an inch. Several more chances came and went whereby both Mizanoor and Abdul could have scored. East One B was playing some good football with Abohani tamed.

Abohani B however did manage to take advantage of the constant from East One B and had a few chances to attack, but East One B held its defence line well, Bolia regularly matched the right winger with Rubel constantly supporting him, both veteran Abzal and speedy Saidur kept a solid foundation at centre back with Abohani B strikers no match for the duo, Habibur also tamed the left wing and supplied some superb balls to the wing and midfield for counter attacks.

Midway through the second half a through ball from Rubel was collected by winger Kalam on the right side, this was then fed through to Abdul who took the ball around the defender and whacked it into the back of the net.  GOAL at last!  It sent the fans on the sideline wild, the players were ecstatic and East One B wanted more!!!

Several through and long balls came from midfield and the wingers which Mizanoor and Abdul failed to capitalise on, they were getting tired and could not see the passes coming or even run after the ball, had they been able to do this then East One B could have got at least 2-3 more goal.  The last five minutes were very nerve racking as East One B defended all attacks coming from Abohani B, a substitute in Bolia for Salekh brought fresh legs to support the defence with Salekh getting straight into the game with a headed clearance.  Time could not go fast enough and with a 1-0 lead by East One B who could blame them!

The final seconds came when the referee blew his whistle, this was it, the moment East One B had been waiting for - their first win. This taking them up to 4 points in the table, it makes you wonder had the team gelled, a performance like today certainly indicated they have.  With tougher opponents coming up it will be a test for the team to maintain this standard of performance.

East One FC (B) 0:1 St Katherine

Team: Jahangir, Bolia, Saidur, Habbib, Habibur, Nessar, Rubel, Tousif
(Abdul),  Kalam, Rahul, Mizan

Managers Man of the match: Habibur

Team Performance: 5/10

Fourth game of the season and East One B were going into this game with more confidence after a good comeback and performance against their last opponents - Wapping.

Keeping to the trade mark formation of  4-5-1, East One B through injuries had new players in its back four with Habib and Saidur partnering up for the first time in central defence.  St Katherine Started well, they passed the ball around and tried to get their wings into play, East One B matched this performance and closed down passes, then went on to keep possession, displaying some imaginative passing amongst themselves and keeping possession for short periods of time.  This possession did turn into attacks with midfielders Kalam, Rubel and Tousif making endless attempts to get the ball forward to Mizan – the lone striker.  Mizan caused the St Katherin’s defence line some headaches as he pestered them at any given opportunity. Mizan eventually got a break after a pass from Kalam, Mizan passed the defence line on the 25 yard line and took a shot which unfortunately went over.   East One B energetic midfield displayed moments of great passing and attacking as they dominated the midfield and restricted St Katherine from pressing forward.

St Katherine had pace on the wings which they tried to utilise as much as possible, this had paid off around the 20 minutes mark when St Katherinet took the ball from midfield and played it over our left back (Bolia) to their right winger.  The winger took on Bolia who unfortunately was high up on the pitch and was unable to keep up with the right winger due to his pace and strength, when the winger approached the 25 yard mark with Bolia banging on his heels Jahangir (Goalkeeper) ran out from goal and attempted to challenge the winger in the 18 yard box, the winger saw Jahangir way-off his line and took the opportunity to lob Jahangir and scored a goal.

East One B went in to half time 1-nil down but surprisingly the mood was positive and they had confidence that they can get back from this. Second half saw East One B dominating the game, East One B decided to make a substitution in replacing a midfielder (Tousif) with a second striker in Abdul with the hope that a goal may come, again many simple and nice passes were made which led to attempts on attack being created but the goal was just not coming.  At the end of 60 minutes play St Katherine’s clinched the game by a goal to nil, an error by East One B cost them the game.  East One B however displayed some of their potential today and looked like a team bonding well, an unfortunate loss today that east One B did not deserve but you sense a win not too far away.

Team Performance: 6/10

It was a good start by East One FC B who was determined to get a result from the outset considering the 2 losses previously.  A 4-5-1 system during the first half ensured Wapping was kept at bay and could not hassle the defence line much.   Most of the play took place in midfield with East One B keeping possession and creating a few chances in the opposition 18 yard box.  Much as these chances came it did not look as though East One B would get that goal.

The game was pretty even at the first half although East One B had more chances to go into the lead. But gave a free kick away to Wapping,  free kick which they took well, the ball going over the wall and into the back of low line of East one B but had a flick from the Wapping side and it wet  beyond the goalkeeper – Sadik’s reach.

In the second half the team continued as in the first half, 10 minuets in Wapping were awarded the second free kick, which was about 28 yards out from the goal. Wapping took the free kick and again it went over the wall and went in the middle of the goal over the keeper as well. East One had failed to realise that with such free kicks outside the 18 yard it is sometimes useful to have a player on the goal line to support the goalkeeper.

East One then began their onslaught, with time fast running out the system was changed to a 4-4-1-1.  The players some how got the energy to pester Wapping and continuously attack, left winger Nessar had a unlikely opportunity presented to him on the wing just in front of the half way mark, he was free with the ball bouncing in front of him, with one glance at Wapping keeper Nessar took a fantastic shot to chip the keeper, a definite contention for goal of the season!.  This undoubtedly got the players excited with East One FC B now showing passion to go and get the second goal.

It was not long before this came, with a through ball coming from Rubel, Mizan pounced on to it, took a defender on and went to his right to go around the keeper and slot in a beautiful goal.  The score was 2-2 and East One were up for another one, East One continued their attack but time had run out.  The referee stopped the game 5 minutes early due to Wapping coming onto the pitch 5 minutes late.

An excellent comeback from East One FC B who deserved a win.

East One FC (B) 0:4 Soul FC

Match report – 11/05/08

Team: Jahangir, Bolia, Moshin, Habbib, Sofik, Nessar, Salekh , Shah, Saidur, Rubel & Abdul

Subs: Shomir, Hamza & Rahim

Managers Man of the match: Rubel (endless running)

Team Performance: 5/10

East One B set out to play a 4-5-1 system with an experienced SOUL team that possessed pace and team play.  The first 15 minutes of the game went well with Saidur, Rubel and Rahim keeping strong in midfield and disrupting SOUL’s attacks.  SOUL eventually got a free kick around 30 yards from the box which was taken well, East One B defence failed to clear the ball and SOUL took advantage of this to score the first goal.  SOUL found it difficult to break East One B for the remaining of the first half.

The start of the second half east One B made some changes due to players being tired, Rahim got on for Shah and , Hamza on for Selekh in midfield.  East One B took the game to SOUL with the game mainly being played in the middle of the field; eventually SOUL started to get their rhythm and was enjoying most of the possession.  East One B conceded a corner which was took and converted directly into the goal. Goalkeeper Jahangir was nowhere in sight but to his defence a bit of wind luck came SOUL’s way.

East One B eventually got frustrated and started pressuring and attacking SOUL showing no patience, this led to a lot of out of position players, the defence line moving up too much which SOUL eventually capitalised on by playing some long balls behind the defence and SOUL’s strikers outpacing the East One B defence.   SOUL eventually scored 2 more goals.

East one B gave away many free kicks as players were getting in to unnecessary tackles and committing fouls in dangerous positions. The fourth goal for Soul came from a 20 yard shot that went over the wall into the centre of goal, missing Jay just by inch.

East one made some great chances to get one back especially when Nessar went down the left wing and gave a cross in to the box, which just went over from Abdul heading it in. Another sub was made by East One B which was Shomir for Habbib, this meant Hamza to go defence and Shomir to go right wing.  This did not help much.

Overall performance of the team was not good as we lost by 4 goals to nil. The team has got a lot to work on. Communication, positioning and team play were again in question.

East One FC (B) 0:6 Ponders End

Match report – 04/05/08

Team: Jahangir, Bolia, Moshin , Hamza, Sofik, Nessar , Rahim , Saidur, Rahul, Sanaur , Abdul

Subs: Salekh , Kasru ,Shomir  & Maruf

Managers Man of the match: Rahul

Team Performance: 4/10

East One FC B entered its first BFA summer league with a new set of players who have only had a week of training with each other.  Their opening match with an experienced side – Ponders End was always going to be major challenge considering the lack of experience and team work within the team.

The game started well with East One FC B showing a lot of energy and will power to get of to a good start. The midfield were initially keeping possession and trying to pass the ball around and feed the forwards – Sanaur and Abdul, this good spell lasted for about 10 minutes at which point Ponders End got into the motion of the game and started taking advantage of the lack of experience East One FC B demonstrated.

Ponders End started wining every ball in the air in midfield, from set kicks and eventually every pass East One FC B attempted.  The first goal was initially conceded by East One FC B around the 12th minute. East One FC B had its first casualty around the 15th minute in midfielder Rahim who had to be replaced due to pulling a hamstring. Kasru who moved into defence, with Moshin moving up into midfield. It was not long before Ponders End kept possession, passed the ball around and eventually played a long ball strategy which assisted in them scoring a further 2 goals before half time.  Ponders End took full advantage of the slow defence line, the lack of fitness and communication demonstrated by East One FC B.

East One FC B made further changes in the second half in Sanur, Nessar, Moshin with Maruf, Salek and Shomir due to the lack of fitness. They tried tirelessly to keep possession and attack but Ponders End was too good and capitalised on the lack of organisation and positioning of East One FC B. The fact that East One FC B continuously kept a high defence line and attempted to attack had given Ponders End the opportunity to exploit this, playing balls over the defence line and counter attacking meant that East one FC B could not keep up with a solid performance by Ponders End who went on to score a further 3 goals.

It was quite evident throughout the match that the team lacked in all area’s – positioning, communication, team work and fitness but some individual performances – notably by Rahul, Rahim, Nessar Bolia indicated that East One FC B has the potential to improve and avoid the relegation zone.  The manager has a lot of work to do to bring out the best in the team.
